![]() I launched two weeks ago so this is very much a v1 that is expected to change and evolve over the next couple of years. It's completely free to use but exports are limited to 1500px resolution in the free version right now.įull res exports and LUT/DCTL generation requires a pro upgrade (subscription or perpetual). TLDR: I created a tool for parametric film emulation that accepts RAW files from a ton of cameras: Just stumbled upon this thread today but a lot of what has been said here sounds a lot like something I've been working on for the past 5 or so years. I personally love the look of film like Kodak 250D. But to get accuracy with grain, halation, and bloom, I've taken the results from LR and tossed them into a Dehancer Photo trial and it's the closest I've been able to get to how real film looks. Now that I have those profiles as the starting point, I really like the tonality I get from the Mastin Labs "highlight hard" tone adjustment. The best combo that I've been able to come up with is paying, full price, for FilmBox for a 3 months and getting the LUTs from it to create Lightroom profiles. I like it from what I see in the demo but sadly having to use a TIF, rather than the raw image is kind of a deal breaker for me. The best product currently available is Dehancer Photo. Sure, you could just import your images into Resolve and use those emulations on your images but this isn't an efficient way to edit your images long term. This thread is regarding accurate ways of emulating film for photography. Spectra of course seems amazing, but it's not available yet.Ĭlick to expand.I assume that those are all probably great emulations but those are designed for video. ![]() Also the gate weave is a very cool add on for film. Mononodes hard to tell from the examples, any users? Elements like lens, halation, soft & sharpen and overlay seems nice. Saw a few examples that were more in line with Cineprint R16. Which of these comes closest to Filmbox (only tried the demo which is already amazing)?Ĭineprint R16 seems quite close, although the halation seemed a bit funky in one of the examples.įilmUnlimited seems like cleaner version, most of the time. I looked at Cineprint R16, Mononodes, FilmUnlimited. ![]() I mean it would be almost exclusively be used for photo, in a quite cumbersome manner. In the meantime, I think I'm going to go with the Davinci workflow.įilmbox is a bit on the expensive side for me. So if anybody would make what Filmbox does for C1, it would be so cool, really cool. But the computer process is needed, otherwise the pictures aren't useable for me, and therefore the enjoyment of taking pictures fades. Most of the time I don't like the process on the computer. I'm actually looking for a solution that gets me there rather quick. I stumbled upon this thread through google.Īnd while I understand or agree on what some people were saying about the coloring process, that it has to be with intention and so takes a certain amount of time, etc. This might rub against some people's thoughts/opinions. so I don't know if the CST settings in Davinci were the right choices. ![]() I have no clue about color management etc. The result was pleasing, and although a few steps quite quick, certainly for a look not possible in C1. I kind of tried a C1 & Davinci Resolve workflow.Ĭ1 import Raw files (Fuji), Rename, export DNGĭavinci Resolve, CST sRGB to Arri, Filmbox, export Jpeg to C1 selects folderĬ1 Jpegs selects folder, rename, metadata, export recipes (web, socials, etc.) ![]()
